Formed in London, England, in 1994, uninhibited hard rock band 3 Colours Red earned immediate comparisons to the Wildhearts, whom they duly supported through 1995. Comprising Pete Vuckovic (b. 16 February 1971, Tiveton, Devon, England; vocals, bass), Chris McCormack (b. 21 June 1973, South Shields, Tyne & Wear, England; guitar, and brother of Danny McCormack of the Wildhearts), Ben Harding (b. 31 January 1965, Stoke-On-Trent, England; guitar, ex- Senseless Things ) and Keith Baxter (b. 19 February 1971, Morecombe, Lancashire, England; drums), their early stage show combined the earnest ferocity of the best garage rock with memorable pop hooklines. Despite this, the group were not quite as fresh to the rock scene as many had assumed - Vuckovic was formerly a member of the groundbreaking Diamond Head in their later period. Backed by a major management company, the group found themselves a further notable support slot in 1996 as 'first on the bill' to the Sex Pistols at the latter's re-formation concert at Finsbury Park, London. Doubtless this came as a result of McCormack and Baxter's work on Glen Matlock 's 1996 solo album, Who's He Think He Is When He's At Home? At the same time their debut single, 'This Is My Hollywood', was released on New Musical Express journalist Simon Price's Fierce Panda label. Creation Records signed the band in late 1996 and Alan McGee was suitably modest when he claimed '3 Colours Red are the second best band in UK' (after Oasis ). The debut album, Pure, attempted to consolidate on the modest showing of their chart singles, debuting at number 16 in the album chart. They returned in October 1998 with the Paralyse EP, and finally achieved mainstream success in January 1999 when the powerful ballad 'Beautiful Day' debuted at UK number 11. On the back of the single's success, Revolt became a considerable success. Surprisingly, the band then announced they were splitting-up, citing musical differences.
