Apollo Four Forty
|
This UK trance - techno group, featuring Trevor Gray (keyboards, vocals), Howard Gray (backing vocals) and Noko (vocals, guitar, keyboards; ex-Luxuria), initially recorded for their own Stealth label. Following the release of early singles 'Blackout', 'Destiny' and club favourite 'Lolita', Apollo 440 soon became more widely known for their remix work, numbering U2, Liz Francis ('Rhythm Of Life'), EMF and Pop Will Eat Itself among their clients. Further notoriety came with their sample of Emerson, Lake And Palmer on their 1993 single, 'Astral America'. They have also recorded as Fast ('Fast' - Stealth 1992, a pure adrenalin rush at 155 bpm). They made the UK Top 10 in February 1997 with 'Ain't Talkin' About Dub', and debuted at number 4 the following August with the theme to the movie Lost In Space. In the late 90s they were joined by the colourful figure of Mary Millington (ex- Gaye Bykers On Acid ), and enjoyed another UK hit in September 1999 with 'Stop The Rock'.
